USC is in hot pursuit of WR Tyrequek Zimmerman (6-1 180) of Lawton, OK, and their chances for landing him received a boost recently when Oklahoma decided not to offer him.
"He had a good camp at Oklahoma but they are not going to offer him," said Lawton High coach Randy Breeze. "They looked at him on both sides of the ball and let him know this week. I don't think that upset him. He's camped out. He's done going to camp. (Texas) A&M and Penn State wanted him to camp in July but I think he's finished."
Zimmerman has grandparents in Orangeburg and usually vacations in South Carolina every summer. But his coach is not sure what his plans are for this summer.
A big part of Zimmerman's decision rests on where his mother is stationed. She's in the military and is waiting on her next assignment. "He's hard to read," Breeze said. "I think South Carolina is at the top, but he's not sure where his mother is going."
Zimmerman also camped at Oklahoma State and the Cowboys are considering offering him. He has offers from USC, Oregon State, Baylor, Tulsa, East Carolina, Louisville, Wyoming and TCU.
