Defensive lineman Angelo Watley (6-3 220) of Suwanee, Ga., committed to South Carolina on Friday.
"I felt like South Carolina was where I wanted to be," said Watley, who also has an offer from Marshall.
More offers are expected.
"I got a feeling it's about to blow up," said Peachtree Ridge head coach Bill Ballard. "I've already gotten a call from Auburn. That's usually how it happens."
Watley took an unofficial visit to USC with his parents and liked what he saw.
"I love the campus and I love the athletic program," he said. "They are also number one in what I want to major in (International Business)."
Watley says he feels strong about the commitment but would visit other schools should they offer. He is considering visits to Marshall, UCLA, and Auburn.
"I might go look if they offer but they're going to have to be up there with South Carolina," said Watley.
As a junior, Watley totaled 30 tackles and seven sacks. On offense, he had five receptions and a touchdown.
Watley said USC coaches compare him to former Gamecock star Eric Norwood.
"That made me feel good," he said.
Watley is the sixth commitment for USC's 2011 class.
