Ashley Cooper, the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor, released his first television ad today criticizing his Republican opponent for accepting pay raises at the same time he voted to raise taxes as a member of Florence County Council.
In the ad Cooper claims Republican Ken Ard took a 19 percent pay raise and voted to raise taxes by $150 million.
Cooper and Ard are vying for the right to replace Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer, who chose not to seek re-election and run for governor.
The candidates will debate live Monday night at 7 p.m. on ETV.
