U.S. Rep. John Spratt has released a new campaign ad with testimonials about his trustworthiness and his accomplishments over his 28 years in Congress. The ad is a departure from the Spratt ads that have attacked Republican state Sen. Mick Mulvaney, who is attempting to unseat Spratt in a race that has national interest.
Spratt, chairman of the House Budget Committee, has been targeted by national Republicans. More than $1 million in third party money has poured into the state aimed at unseating Spratt. The Rock Hill Democrat has been fighting back by aggressively attacking Mulvaney.
This ad, though, doesn't mention Mulvaney. Instead, it makes the case that it would hurt the district to end the career of an accomplished congressman just because of voter discontent with Washington.
