A West Columbia man was arrested and charged in a stabbing Saturday morning.
Tommy Dewayne Cook, 35, is charged with attempted murder. West Columbia police think he is responsible for an abdominal stab wound that hospitalized a man early Saturday.
According to a West Columbia Police press release, Cook and his live-in girlfriend were arguing at a restaurant in the Vista when Cook allegedly punched the woman in the eye. A friend then drove the woman home, and Cook followed, according to the press release. Once there, the woman’s 20-year-old son reportedly prevented Cook from getting in the home. A short time later, a man broke a window in the home, and stabbed the20-year-old in the abdomen. He was transported to Palmetto Health Richland, where he underwent surgery and was released.
Police found Cook in the woods nearby and arrested him. He is being held at Lexington County Detention Center on $75,000 bond.
