The Gamecocks are 11th in the conference in total defense and pass defense, and are 8th in rush defense. They are also 12th in opponents completion percentage.

Though the USC defense is tied for 4th in the conference in number of turnovers, they are 11th in interceptions. However, they are tied for 2nd with Mississippi State in fumble recoveries and lead the conference in return yards per interception. They are also 3rd in the league in sacks.
The Gamecocks are 11th in the conference in opponents first downs and tied for 12th in the conference with Georgia in opponents third down conversion percentage. However, they lead the conference in fourth down conversion percentage and red zone scoring percentage.
