Carolina had a very good visit to Austin, coming away with a shocking 27-21 victory over the storied 18th ranked Longhorns of Texas.
Even though Carolina’s King Dixon returned the opening kickoff for a TD, the Gamecocks still found themselves trailing 21-7 midway through the third quarter. That’s when the “Touchdown Twins” of Dixon and Alex Hawkins took over the contest.
Hawkins hit Dixon with a 36-yard TD pass to bring Carolina to within 1 at 21-20.
Then, with only three minutes left in the game, Hawkins ran it in from 18 yards, stunning the 40,000 Longhorn fans on hand.
