Carolina fights off heavy rains and a 25-minute power failure in defeating the Virginia Cavaliers 34-14 in Columbia.
The win improves the Gamecocks to 5-1 on the season.
The USC defense, nicknamed the “Carolina Bandits,” held Virginia to just one pass completion, and only 85 yards rushing through the first 45 minutes of play. Special teams for USC were outstanding, including a blocked punt, and a 43-yard punt return TD by All-American Dickie Harris.
