The Devan Downey era began in a big way for USC basketball.
In his first game as a Gamecock, Downey scored 24 points leading Carolina to 92-67 victory over S.C. State.
Downey’s 24 points are the most for a Gamecock newcomer since Larry Davis scored 26 points in his USC debut in 1995.
Downey was named first-team All-SEC, averaging 18.1 points per game. He also established a single season record for steals with 103.
