QB Garry Harper connected with flanker Horace Smith late in the fourth quarter for a 62-yard TD to give the 14th ranked Gamecocks a nail-biting 39-38 win over Wake Forest.
Carolina got two first half TDs from George Rogers, and went to locker room tied at 14.

Uncharacteristically, Coach Jim Carlen went to the passing game, as Harper tossed three second half TD passes to three different receivers to pull out a hard fought victory.
