The Clemson Tigers were heavily favored in this matchup vs. Carolina, but it was the Gamecocks who came out on top by a score of 72-66 in Columbia.
The Tigers had built a 39-32 advantage early in the second half, but that’s when senior forward Golie Augustus went off, scoring nine points in a two minute stretch. USC went on a 23-6 run, and never looked back. Free throw shooting was the difference, as Carolina connected on 26 of 38 in the game.
Augustus led the way with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Mike Doyle added 17 points of his own.
