It was a good news, bad news Christmas Eve for the Gamecock basketball team.
It was learned that the MRI done on point guard Melvin Watson’s right knee had revealed a sprained MCL. The good news was that he would miss only two to three weeks, and not the rest of the season as was feared.
Watson returned as expected, and was a key cog in the team’s run to the NCAA tournament, where they were seeded third with a 23-7 record.
