Carolina picked up its 13th consecutive win after a 2-0 shutout of the Auburn Tigers in Auburn.
It was a great pitcher’s duel that went scoreless for eight innings. USC pitcher Sam Dyson threw 116 pitches in seven innings and gave up ten hits, but yet didn’t allow the Tigers to tally a run, as they stranded ten base runners. Auburn’s Cole Nelson matched Dyson’s effort for seven innings. The Gamecocks finally broke through in the eighth on Scott Wingo’s wind-aided RBI double.
Carolina added an insurance run in the ninth on a Kyle Enders RBI single, before Matt Price came in and pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to pick up the save.
