Gamecock Hall of Famer Hank Small was born today in Atlanta, Ga.
Hank played from 1972 to 1975, and was arguably the greatest hitter in USC history. His name can be found near the top of nearly every career offensive category at Carolina. His 48 homers are second only to Justin Smoak’s 62. Small also ranks fifth in career RBIs with 184, and tenth in hits with 245. His career .354 batting average is tenth best as well. The legendary first basemen powered the Gamecocks to Omaha and the College World Series for the first time ever in 1975.
Hank was inducted into USC Athletic Hall of Fame in 1991.
