Our picks for the weekend

THURSDAY

Jason Ajemian, a bassist with expressive and deconstructed tones, will perform a solo show at 701 Center for Contemporary Art at 8 tonight. Ajemian will also add voice to the performance. His voice is haunting, like a shadow moving through an abandoned building. The movement - musically and vocally - is something to behold. 701 CCA is at 701 Whaley St. $4 to $5; http://www.701cca.org or (803) 238-2351

FRIDAY

Workshop Theatre extended its run of "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas," and if you haven't seen it, the final two shows are Friday and Saturday. Showtime is 8 p.m. both nights. Workshop is at 1136 Bull St. $14 to $20; (803) 799-6551

SATURDAY

NBC is broadcasting the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, and in town you can get a piece of the Olympic spirit at the "EdLympics" Winter Games, which will be held at EdVenture Children's Museum from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Try your skill at speed skating, luge and cross-country skiing in the "Snowville" exhibit. EdVenture is at 211 Gervais St. For more information, call (803) 779-3100.
