Real estate investors meet

The Capitol City Real Estate Investors, Columbia's association for professional real estate investors, will meet Nov. 12 at Saluda Shoals Park River Center.

Presentations scheduled for the meeting include: Tax tips and hot topics by Brandon Smith and Ki Shin; credit repair by Lisa Courtney; double closings by Charles Gray; and creating safe workplaces by Gina Lane.

There is a $20 guest fee for non-members. To attend the meeting for free, see www.screi.com and have your name added to the guest list.

Registration and networking starts at 6:30 p.m. Presentations start at 7 p.m.

Learn about buying a house

Free workshops that focus on home buying, the mortgage process and closing procedures are scheduled for this month.

Professionals will be available to answer questions. There will also be information about the $8,000 first-time buyer tax credit.

The seminars are free, but RSVP is suggested due to demand.

Home-buyer workshops

Area lenders, real estate agents and attorneys are presenting free workshops to answer questions for potential home buyers.

The sessions will be offered 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 and Nov. 19. Each session will cover a specific area of home buying.

In December, the sessions will be offered Dec. 3, Dec. 10 and Dec. 17.

The sessions are at 7567 St. Andrews Road in Irmo (next to the Lizard's Thicket restaurant). No advance registration is required.
