Grab a book and a bite at your local library. Chef Sarah Simmons, in partnership with Richland Library, has opened The Cafe at the Library’s Main location on Assembly St.
The Cafe, located on the first floor, will be serving flatbreads, panini sandwiches, salads and snacks — including a selection of favorites from Simmons’ former Rise Gourmet Goods & Bakeshop — Monday through Saturday 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
Simmons and her husband and business partner Aaron Hoskins will operate The Cafe and are using the space as a culinary residency for aspiring restaurateurs, offering the experience of running the day-to-day operations of a restaurant. The couple will work with Richland Library staff to select participants for the program later this year.
Beginning the week of Feb. 26, a selection of Rise bagels, schmears and breakfast sandwiches will be available on Wednesdays and Saturdays only. The items will be available from 8:30 a.m. until they are sold out.
To accommodate requests for larger bagel orders, there will be a pre-order program allowing customers to order six for $10 or a dozen bagels for $18. Orders can be placed online at https://goo.gl/forms/80LjbYhNypyeddRn2 and are limited each day, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
