Group thumbs noses at SC legislators with annual flag raising
Members of the South Carolina Sucessionist Party raise the Confederate Battle Flag on a temporary pole at the South Carolina State House. When the flag was permanently removed in 2015, the group pledged to raise the flag every year.
The Columbia SC animal shelter took in several dogs from Anson County, NC, due to flooding caused by Hurricane Florence. Some of those dogs are now being taken to Chattanooga, TN, to help relieve overcrowding at the Columbia shelter.

David Bennett was heading home to North Carolina early Monday morning when his car hit part of a washed-out Hwy 145 and plunged into a creek of flood water. He was able to get his girlfriend and two small children out of the car safely.
An 18-wheeler plunged into a washed-out portion of Highway 145 in Chesterfield County. The driver was not injured according to the sheriff's department. Floodwaters from Hurricane Florence washed the road out.
