The Miyo’s franchise owner is bringing an international restaurant to the Harbison area, and she is renewing the lease of the current Miyo’s at Bower Parkway.
Michelle Wang said she decided to renew after considering letting the lease end because she has a strong attachment to the Harbison location’s customers and employees. The renewal will be for a 10-year term, she said.
“We’re in business to serve the community,” Wang said.
Wang also is planning to open M Kitchen in the former Steak & Shake. The restaurant will have international cuisine that will use organic ingredients like some of her other restaurants use such as M Fresh on Washington Street and M Grille on Lady Street. Instead of just Asian cuisine, there will be dishes such as pizza and tacos, she said.
She also is planning on a children’s garden area on the site in a patio area. The restaurant will be family-friendly and the garden will help children learn to cook, Wang said. She said she hopes to open the restaurant by the end of the year. It will be on the 300 block of Columbiana Drive near Carrabba’s Italian Grill.
Meanwhile, Wang has decided to change the hours of M Cafe on Main Street to include dinner once again starting on Monday Feb. 10. She stopped serving dinner over the summer but said workers at the nearby hospital and law offices requested that she open again for dinner.
