SUMTER — The Kaydon Corp. will invest $4.5 million and create as many as 10 jobs at one of its local plants, the S.C. Department of Commerce reported.
Kaydon has two plants in Sumter County and employs 290 people. It manufactures wind turbine bearings. The company is capitalizing on wind energy market growth.
The latest development is part of the company’s two-year expansion plan that will total $6.9 million. The company will invest in new industrial lathes, heat-treatment devices and overhead cranes.
