The University of Phoenix South Carolina Campus will recognize more than 300 graduates at this year's commencement ceremony on June 11 at Township Auditorium.
The graduating class represents students who have studied online or attended classes at the main campus in Columbia or the Greenville Learning Center.
"Commencement is a celebration for University of Phoenix staff and faculty because we witness the students’ journey to completion of their degree programs," said Stephanie Jackson, University of Phoenix South Carolina Campus Director. "It takes perseverance and sacrifices to reach this milestone, but these graduates pressed forward, understanding how education changes lives."
The graduates are celebrating the completion of associate's, bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree programs. The most popular programs among these graduates are the Bachelor of Science in Business/Management and the Master of Business Administration.
This year's keynote speaker is Victor Antonio, a former CEO of a $420 million company with more than 20 years of experience in business and sales. The University’s School of Business will also honor Andrea Clair with the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) Student Leadership Award.
MBA graduate Takia Williams, will also be recognized as the University’s Outstanding Student of the Year. The African-American mother is raising an 11-year-old daughter while working for Bank of
America Merrill Lynch. Her full-time job involves managing more than 250 clients with revenues up to $30 million. She also serves as caregiver for her 90-year-old grandmother. In her spare time, she is
active in her community, partnering with various nonprofit organizations and schools to promote financial literacy, personal growth and professional development.
