Melissa Gentry, Columbia’s assistant manager for operations, has been named to the American Public Works Association’s National Top Ten Public Works Leaders of the Year list. The association annually recognizes 10 of the most outstanding public works professionals from the U.S. and Canada for their dedication and service, professionalism and expertise in public works infrastructure. In her role as Columbia’s assistant city manager for operations, Gentry performs advanced administrative and professional personnel work in planning, organizing and directing assigned departments and functions of municipal government. In addition, she created the city’s Sustainability Office as well as the sustainability facilitator’s position.
