A new hangar for 10 aircraft will rise at the Pelion airstrip by next spring, Lexington County officials said Tuesday.
“The demand for it is there,” county administrator Joe Mergo told County Council members. “There’s enough to justify it.”
The building to house airplanes is the first in $4 million in upgrades planned at the facility in the southwest corner of the county.
Other improvements include widening and extending the runway to make the airstrip usable for small jets that ferry business executives.
