Lexington will get a new locally-owned steak and seafood restaurant this spring in the former Gilligan's Seafood location at 938 N. Lake Drive. The restaurant, which is owned by Steve Deese (owner of Bentley Pontoons in Lexington) will be managed by Lexington mayor Steve MacDougall. The restaurant--named Mr. D's Steaks and Seafood--will seat 250 and will be open for dinner only. It will be a "white table cloth" restaurant MacDougall said, but one that is reasonably priced.
"Lexington was in need of this type of restaurant for years," MacDougall said.
Mr. D's is scheduled to open by early March.
A new PetCo is coming to Lexington at 5440 Sunset Blvd. next to Kohl’s. The animal supplies chain operates 14 locations in South Carolina. The first Midlands-area location is scheduled to open this spring in Columbia Development’s newest strip mall development at Forest Drive and Percival Road in Forest Acres. The company broke ground on the Lexington location in January.
