Repairs have been made, the water lines flushed and the water quality tested allowing Columbia Water Works to lift a boil water advisory issued Wednesday for the Heatherstone subdivision near Irmo, the utility said Thursday afternoon.
A broken 6-inch water main has prompted the Columbia Water Works to issue a boil water advisory for a subdivision near Irmo and the YMCA on Kennerly Road in Lexington County.
Columbia water customers in the Heatherstone subdivision near Irmo are covered by the advisory until further notice. Anyone in the advisory area is urged to vigorously boil for 1 full minute any water used for drinking, food preparation or making ice. This will reduce the risk of bacterial contamination posed by the broken water main.
Anyone near the affected area who experienced a drop or loss of water pressure should follow the same advice until the advisory is lifted.
