Sumter woman dies on Myrtle Beach vacation

Preliminary autopsy results released Sunday show that a Sumter woman died from drowning on Saturday while vacationing in Myrtle Beach, according to Horry County Coroner Tamara Willard.

Annette Brunson, 40, was swimming in the ocean near the 68th Avenue North beach access with her 8-year-old son.

Shortly after 2 p.m., her husband noticed something appeared to be wrong with his wife in the water and went to check on her, Willard said.

The incident happened at 2:21 p.m. Saturday.
