Marching bands will compete in Columbia

Columbia High School will host several bands from around the state Saturday in the Gold Capital City Classic.

Among Midlands area high school bands competing are several from Richland 1: Dreher, C.A. Johnson, A.C. Flora, Eau Claire, Lower Richland and Keenan.

Special performances will be given by the Columbia High Band of Gold and Benedict College Marching Band of Distinction.

The competition runs from noon to 7:30 p.m. at Richland 1's Memorial Stadium, 100 Airport Blvd. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for ages 6-18, and free for ages 5 and younger.
