Columbia dismisses three state lobbyists

Columbia City Council members voted 5-2 earlier this week to fire the city's three state lobbyists.

The move, approved Wednesday, will save the city about $71,568 a year and comes one day after council members voted to not pay city employees for six of their remaining eight holidays.

Teresa Wilson Florence, Columbia's director of governmental affairs, will become the city's state lobbyist. Council members retained their federal lobbyist, Barbara McCall.
