Investigator enters Kershaw sheriff's race

CAMDEN - Fifth Circuit Solicitor's investigator L.W. Flynn announced Wednesday he is running as a Republican in the 2010 race for Kershaw County sheriff.

With incumbent Sheriff Steve McCaskill not expected to run again, Flynn joins an increasingly crowded field.

Among other Republicans running are Kershaw County sheriff's Capt. David Thomley and Jim Matthews, former Drug Enforcement Administration special agent in charge of a 16-county South Carolina district.

Kershaw County sheriff's narcotics Lt. David Dowey, a Democrat, also is running.

Richland County sheriff's deputy George Poulin is also running. It could not be learned which party's primary he will run in.
