Fall is here, and that means it's a great time to get out and discover the trees at Congaree National Park. There are lots of free activities, including Tree Treks - like the one held Wednesday - as well as guided canoe trips and daily hikes.
This Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Congaree's annual fall festival, Swampfest, will offer guided walks, demonstrations, bird programs and other activities. The park is at 100 National Park Drive, off Old Bluff Road in Lower Richland County. Log on at www.congareeswampfest.com for details.
And, residents can learn more about the park's history tonight on "Carolina Stories" documentary, set for 10 p.m. on ETV.
