Fort Jackson on Wednesday opened a new center for soldiers' spouses and children.
The center, next to Darby Field, will welcome new military families to the Army's largest training installation.
Staffers are available to help troops' families with questions about housing, job opportunities and child care.
About 4,000 soldiers are stationed at Fort Jackson, and hold a variety of jobs from drill sergeants to clerks.
Overall, 50,000 soldiers a year receive basic and advance training at Fort Jackson.
