The S.C. Air National Guard's 169th Fighter Wing claimed top honors earlier this week at an international F-16 competition in Jordan.
The wing, nicknamed "Swamp Fox," won three of four main events as well as the top overall maintenance award at the Falcon Air Meet 2009.
"Everyone worked very hard for a long time to prepare for this competition and the results show that they accomplished what they came to do," said Col. Mike Hudson, commander of the 169th Operations Group at McEntire.
The S.C. airmen, representing U.S. Air Forces Central Command, captured first place for safely launching an air intercept mission, precision bombing runs, and loading missiles.
F-16 pilots and crews from Jordan and Belgium also competed in the event held Tuesday at Mwaffaq Salti Air Base, Jordan.
