Midlands Tech student at White House meeting

A Midlands Technical College student is one of more than 100 students who met with Obama administration officials at the White House.

Chris Sullivan, a 2008 Dutch Fork High graduate who is a sophomore majoring in business, participated in an environmental forum Wednesday as a part of Repower America, an Al Gore-inspired organization set up to reduce pollution, end dependence on foreign oil and create "green" jobs.

Sullivan, 19, said he and other young people attending the forum pressed the White House for legislation they believe will protect the environment.

He said participating in the forum is "a big thrill."

"It's a big thrill because this is the future - not only for the United States but for the world," said Sullivan, who is making his first trip to the White House.
