Fire destroys Lower Richland home

A Fountain Lake Road home burned early this morning.

The two-story house at 543 Fountain Lake Road suffered $150,000 in damages, and the heat from the fire also caused $15,000 in damage to the two homes on either side of it, Columbia Fire Department Deputy Chief Aubrey Jenkins said.

Firefighters got the call at about 3 a.m. and arrived at 3:06 a.m. It took them about an hour to get the the blaze under control, Jenkins said.

No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. A "For Sale" sign is in the home's yard, Jenkins said.

The fire department continues to investigate the fire and a cause has not been determined yet.
