The Highway Patrol is investigating the Wednesday night collision of two Cayce police vehicles in the Avenues neighborhood.
A police cruiser and an unmarked police vehicle collided about 10:30 p.m. on K Avenue, according to news accounts. The unmarked car ended up in the yard of a home.
Patrol spokesman Josef Robinson said he had few details.
Robinson said the cause is unclear. He said he is waiting for the investigating officer to return to duty Thursday night.

Asked if there was evidence that alcohol might be involved, Robinson said the patrol has found nothing to indicate an alcohol-related wreck.
Cayce police Lt. J. Simmons declined to provide any details of the collision. “I have absolutely nothing to say,” Simmons said, referring all questions to the Highway Patrol.
