The forecast calls for a better-than-average chance of snow beginning at midnight Thursday, Columbia’s Weather Service reported today.
The percentage is 60, and the snow is likely to end by 3 a.m. Friday, leaving up to a half-inch accumulation, meteorologist Tim Hawks said.
"I don’t think much of it will stick to roadways," Hawks said. But icy patches are possible.
That situation puts school administrators in a time squeeze for deciding whether to close or just start classes later in the day.
