Donate a coat, win S.C. movie memorabilia

Saturday, a group of Columbia-area filmmakers, actors and movie fans will collect coats and other goods for people staying in shelters.

Extra Hands will meet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dutch Square mall, in the food court.

Those making donations may register for prizes that include movie memorabilia from films shot in South Carolina such as "Radio," "Leatherheads," "Nailed" and "Death Sentence."

Among needed items are: clean coats, hats and gloves for men, women and children; new socks, undershirts and thermals for men; twin-bed sheets; paper towels; dish soap; laundry detergent; diapers and baby wipes.

Also large food storage containers; trash bags; food storage bags; aluminum foil and plastic wrap; batteries; copy paper; ink pens and sticky notes.
