Black History Month: Exploring 'Chemistry of Color'

In honor of Black History Month, we are presenting a daily look at the pieces being displayed at the Columbia Museum of Art through the eyes of South Carolinians who personify the past, present and future of African-American history.

The latest commentary is from John Lane, composer and associate senior vice president at Allen University, discussing "Images of Labor" (1980).

His take on the piece, and an image of it and previous installments, can be found at http://www.thestate.com/blackhistory all through February.
