This weekend's NCAA Myrtle Beach Super Regional series between Coastal Carolina and South Carolina is officially sold out.
Coastal officials made the announcement Tuesday afternoon.
All the tickets were sold before phone and internet sales began. That gave Coastal fans the best opportunity to purchase tickets, though it's likely that many South Carolina fans will find a way into the stadium.
A cap was not placed on ticket sales and some customers bought large portions of tickets. That could lead to ticket scalping outside the stadium.
Saturday's best-of-three opener will begin at noon. Game 2 will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday. If necessary, Game 3 will be played at either 1 or 7 p.m. Monday.
The series will be played at BB&T Coastal Field in Myrtle Beach, home to the Pelicans, a Single-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. The stadium seats 5,200, with a standing-room-only capacity of 6,600.
Game 1 will be televised on ESPNU, Game 2 will appear on ESPN and ESPN2 would carry the finale.
USC won its NCAA regional at Carolina Stadium Sunday night. With No. 4 national seed Coastal Carolina defeating the College of Charleston 11-10 in its regional championship game Monday, the Chanticleers will serve as the host team for the best-of-three series.
South Carolina (46-15) is making its eighth Super Regional appearance since the NCAA began using this format in 1999. This will be the second appearance for Coastal (55-8) in a Super Regional and its first as a host.
The Gamecocks have made 26 NCAA tournament appearances, with eight trips to the College World Series, in their history, while the Chanticleers have made 10 NCAA appearances. The two teams have played 15 times dating back to 1976. USC, which leads the all-time series 10-5, won the last meeting in 2002.
