A piece of a former landfill on U.S. 321 south of Cayce will become a practice driving range for the University of South Carolina golf team.
Lexington County officials will build a pair of greens and four tees for the team at the site for $45,000 and then lease them to USC for $60,000 for four years.
County Council approved the project to give the team a practice area closer to campus.
A privately-run driving range and miniature golf course already operate there.
