Columbia has set a record for most days in one year in which the temperature never dropped below 70 degrees, according to the Southeast Regional Climate Center.
The low temperature Sunday at Columbia Metropolitan Airport was 73, marking the 94th day this year with a low of 70 or above. The previous record of 93 days was set in 1921 and matched in 1925 and 1939.
The 2010 record still could increase, but the forecast for the next five days calls for lows in the 50s and 60s.
