Cousins Antuwn Omar Turner, 20, and David Wesley Watson, 21, have been charged in connection with a total of 27 burglaries in the College Place and Greenview neighborhoods in north Columbia, according to a police department news release.
Watson was arrested Sept. 29 on an unrelated charge, confessed to the burglaries and mentioned his cousin’s involvement, police say. Turner was arrested Oct. 1 and confessed to additional burglaries committed without Watson, police say.
Both are being held at Richland County’s Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Watson is charged with attempted burglary, unlawful carrying of a pistol and failure to stop for police. Turner is charged with second-degree burglary, attempted burglary and petit larceny.
The series of break-ins were committed over several months in the neighborhoods, where residents had been working with police to solve the crimes.
