The Richland County Sheriff’s Department says it has arrested a man who pretended to be a law enforcement officer.
Sheriff Leon Lott said Michael Miller, 45, told an employee at the Circle K on Clemson Road that he was a deputy and requested a refund on items he had bought earlier.
Lott said Miller signed for the items, writing “RCSD” to indicate he was getting the refund on behalf of the department. Lott says the store manager later realized that the items Miller signed for were stolen days before.
Miller is believed to have committed the same crime at other stores, Lott said.
