Gov. Mark Sanford has appointed Gail Joyner-Fleming of Charleston to fill the vacant District 1 spot on S.C. State University’s Board of Trustees.
Joyner-Fleming worked at S.C. State for 35 years before retiring last year. She served as interim dean of the College of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences and as interim dean of graduate studies. Joyner-Fleming has also worked as acting chair of educational leadership and associate dean at S.C. State.
Joyner-Fleming earned a bachelors degree from North Carolina A&T University, a masters degree from the University of Wisconsin and a doctoral degree from USC.
