A Lexington woman has been recognized for her work by the S.C. Chapter of the American Planning Association.
Cheryl H. Matheny, with the Matheny-Burns Group, received the Distinguished Planner award in recent ceremonies.
Among other 2010 awards, announced in a news release Friday, were:
"Outstanding Planning Project, Small Jurisdiction," went to the town of Blythewood for its master plan;

"Outstanding Planning Project, Multi-Jurisdictional," went to the University of South Carolina, city of Columbia, Guignard Associates and Sasaki Associates, Inc., for the Innovista master plan for downtown Columbia and the Congeree River waterfront.
The SCAPA is a nonprofit education and membership organization that advances community planning.
