SUMTER - A four-month undercover drug operation ended this week when police arrested 15 people on various drug crimes and other charges.
Police seized nearly $5,000 in cash, a pound of marijuana, 385 grams of cocaine and 60 grams of crack during raids conducted on Thursday and Friday, Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis reported Saturday. Police also seized at least one vehicle and more than $27,000 worth of counterfeit merchandise.
The investigation, dubbed “Operation Fowl Play,” was conducted by the sheriff’s department, the U.S. Marshals Service and the S.C. Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon. More arrests are expected, the sheriff’s office reported.
