Family hurt in one-car accident on I-95
Three members of a family from Ambler, Penn., traveling to Florida were severely injured after their pickup overturned on Interstate 95 in Hardeeville on Thursday morning.
The single-vehicle accident occurred at about 8:15 a.m.
R.J. Moore, 7, and his sister, Autumn Moore, 13, were thrown from the 2001 GMC truck after their mother, Cassandra Moore, 36, drove onto the left shoulder and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to overturn several times, Hardeeville Police Capt. Arnold Middleton said.
Both children were inside the truck's cabin, but were not wearing seatbelts, Middleton said. Their father, Rob Moore, 49, and mother were wearing seatbelts, he said. Police are investigating, Middleton said.
Cassandra Moore was trapped inside the vehicle, Middleton said. Rob Moore was not injured. All were taken to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, the mother and sister by helicopter, Middleton said. The sister’s injuries were most severe, Middleton said.
