A Columbia man riding a motorcycle in northeast Richland County was struck and killed early Friday night.
James E. Finney Jr., 46, was attempting to turn into a grocery store parking lot in the 4600 block of Hardscrabble Road around 6 p.m. when he was struck and killed by the driver of a 2007 Dodge pickup truck coming out of the store's parking lot, according to the Richland County Coroner's Office.
Finney was taken to Palmetto Health Richland hospital, where he was pronounced dead. According to the coroner's office, an autopsy Saturday showed Finney died from trauma associated with the collision.
The driver of the truck, Christopher Webster, 42, of Columbia was uninjured. He has been charged with reckless homicide, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Senior Trooper Brent Kelly.
The Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate.
