No one speaks out against Lexington Co. property tax increase

No one showed up Tuesday to oppose a small property tax hike coming in Lexington County.

The raise amounts to $12.15 on a home valued for taxes at $100,000, the maximum raise allowed by the state tax cap.

It will pay mainly for improvements in law enforcement, fire protection and emergency medical care.

The increase included in a $111.2 million spending plan moved closer to adoption as council members advanced it 6-3. Final approval is expected June 11.
