Richland County sheriff’s deputies continue to search for a Two Notch Road bank robbery suspect who is also wanted in connection with robberies in other states.
The search for the suspect began after the First Community bank, which is located in the 9800 block of Two Notch Road, was robbed around 10 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to department spokesman Sgt. Kevin Lawrence.
Lawrence said a male suspect entered the bank and handed the bank teller a note, which said he had a handgun in his possession. Although he never brandished a gun, the teller complied with suspect’s demand for money and gave an undisclosed amount to him.
Lawrence said the suspect fled on foot, and Richland County K-9 units searched the area for him.
Investigators are working with law enforcement agencies in Alabama since the suspect is also wanted for committing the same crime in their jurisdiction, Sheriff Leon Lott said. The suspect may also have committed the same crime in Georgia.
The robbery has not yet been connected to a similar armed robbery that occurred at the Wells Fargo bank near the intersection of Decker Boulevard and Two Notch Road Tuesday afternoon.
